Happy Mother’s Day! The word mother makes us have a lot of thoughts. Above all, I remember mother's sacrifice and love, which might be the image of mother.
In May, I have frequently recalled my mother. I want to share an article that is related to my mother.
[In spring, my wife makes a garden on the corner of the house. This year, pumpkins bought in the Korean market have been added to the list. Although the field is small, she planted everything that our family needed: Lettuce, sesame leaf, tomato, modern, cucumber, pumpkin, and melon grow in the garden.
Vegetables seem to grow faster in a few days.
'Great guys!'
But the vegetables seemed to tell me this. 'You can eat me.' My appetite could not miss this sound. I took a bowl of rice with ‘Sam Jang’ and washed the lettuce grown in the field.
'It will be delicious ~' I could not endure.
'Yes, it is this taste'
I said I had a diet from yesterday. ‘Oh no… Today may be late, I will do it tomorrow; Rice with Samjang and the lettuce grown in the field were all there, and it was enough to taste the hometown.
At that time, suddenly I recalled my mother. 'Mother, you would have eaten like this'
It was a few years ago. Early in the morning, my brother called me in a sudden crying voice. It was a sad news. My mother suddenly passed away. I got an email a few days ago from my mother, saying that she had birthday party earlier with my family member. I did not want to believe that fact. No, I could not accept it.
I quickly checked an airplane ticket from the US to Korea. There was a plane ticket departing in the morning. However, it took almost a day to be at the Incheon airport and my brother's friends picked me up. And they took me to the funeral home. My father has been putting off his mother 's funeral for a while because his son was coming from America. I didn’t want to believe it entering the funeral hall. It was because my mother seemed to walk out and might say, “Surprise!’ However, no matter how I cried, it was useless. My mother went to heaven on a good spring day.
There was a lot of works to be done after the funeral. My mother's trace remained in every corner of the house. In the refrigerator and kitchen especially, it was easy to find the traces of my mother who did not know tomorrow.
'If she would know her son’s coming, she would have walked all over the town to buy something for son.’
Her son was at home, but the house seemed empty. My father’s feeling would be worse because he spent time with his wife for over 40 years. I walked out to try to fill my emptiness. My hometown was the same as the memories in my childhood. Nothing has changed, but I still felt emptiness because I couldn’t hear my mother’s calling any more.
Since Summer was getting closer and the color of the grass was getting thicker. I remembered the garden in one corner of the house. It would be possible that my mother might have planted something. As expected, all kinds of vegetables were growing in the fields. 'Leek, lettuce, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, squash, eggplant, tomatoes ..' It was full of food in the garden.
'She would have tried to eat these. Now who's eating ... . '
I remembered the simple meal that my mother had prepared for me. I recalled that she put a spoonful of rice with Samjang on the lettuce that has just gotten from the field and my mother would have tasted Spring.
Today I also imitate my mom and I felt the spring and nature instead of my mother. “Mom, I miss you so much.’ ]
This is my memory of my mother.
2.
When I was a child, when my mother always sang a special song during the worship service, which was the praise of " All year in our home the spring breezes blow." And now I understand why my mother did so. She prayed that our family be like this praise. And as my mother's wishes and prayers, our family members believe in Jesus Christ although she didn’t see that her prayers were answered during her lifelong.
All year in our home the spring breezes blow, Since God our Father abides with us here. Firm faith the bedrock unshaken below, Our home’s a garden of gladness all year. How we thank Him Immanuel! Our home His, His, to serve Christ always! How we thanks Him, Immanuel! Such joy and blessedness, day upon day!
I hope your home will be like this hymn.
I wondered who was the creator of this hymn. Jeon, Young Taek and Elder Gu, Du hee have written and composed, respectively. Pastor Jeon Yeong-taek, the lyricist, said that his wish was to take care of the family in a cozy manner while hiding in the independence movement during the Japanese occupation. Elder Gu also said that he had a desire for a family since he lost her mother when he was young. Thus, the praise made through the hearts of these two people was their hope and prayer.
The hymn "Mother's Broad Love", which will be called a little while later, was also composed by the elder Gu. The lyricist is Jeong, Yo Han, who grew up in the hands of his grandmother early in life and was full of longing for his mother. He replaced his grandmother to mother in the song. His grandmother played a role like his mother. He learned the Bible from her grandmother.
I hope your home will be like this poem of praise. Your children also want to confess like this praise. You should confess that all generation will call me blessed.

There are countless mothers in the world. Who is the most famous mother of them? Perhaps it would be Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary was conceived by the Holy Spirit about thirteen years old. It was through Mary that what was prophesied long ago by the prophet Isaiah.
The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14).
Immanuel means God is with us.
God became human. Jesus Christ was born through a teenager named Mary.
However, in spite of the incredible fact that she was conceived by the Holy Spirit, in spite of her young age, the Bible tells us that she was willing to accept the words of God by believing in the words of the angel Gabrael. It is because " For nothing is impossible with God." It would not be difficult for a virgin to be pregnant.
The Gabrael angel tells Mary to visit her relative Elisabeth to give her greater assurance. And when Elizabeth saw Mary, she was filled with the Holy Spirit and said in a loud voice that Mary was pregnant and blessed.
'Blessed are you, and your children are blessed.' Then the praise Mary called was the today’s text.
My soul glorifies the Lord (ver. 45).
Mary didn’t know what would happened to her, but she praised the Lord. Praise is to entrust herself to the Lord although the virgin who was pregnant could be killed by people. Joseph, who was married, could also say to break up. She could not imagine what would happen in the future. Nevertheless, Mary praised the Lord. This will be the picture of mother. Children will remember their mother who praising the Lord regardless of any circumstance.
More astounding confessions follow. Mary's praise is not forcible, but it is a praise that was given with joy.
'My spirit rejoices in God my Savior (ver. 46)'
Mary was not disappointed in what happened to her life. Rather, she looked forward to the Messiah and rejoiced in it. She would be more pleased to confirm that God can do everything. Mary was pleased with God even though she was not in a situation to be pleased with. why? The reason is shown in the following passage.
"for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant (ver. 48a)”
Mary was a woman who knew what God's mercy and God's grace was. Although Mary was young at that time, she knew what God's grace was. She knew that her life was only explained by the grace of God. And then she made even more amazing confession.
"From now on all generations will call me blessed”
It would be a confession that God keeps her, protects her, and guides her as God has kept her so far and has been gracious. And even after that the honor of being blessed awaits her. Instead of focusing on the pain of reality, she could see the bold declaration of the future.
“From now on all generations will call me blessed”
“I am a blessed woman. I am a blessed person.” This was what Mary declared and believed. It was a confession that she filled with the Holy Spirit, believing in God and praising Him with joy.
What about the life of Mary blessed on earth?
Mary had to live a hard life. After Jesus was born, she had to flee to Egypt. Then she returned to Nazareth and had to raise several children. But the most tough time for Mary was when she had to see the Messiah who lent her body hanged on the cross.
The mother's heart that should leave her child first would be painful. But it was only for three days. Because Jesus was resurrected again. And the resurrected Jesus went up to heaven. And after the resurrected Jesus left, how did Mary live?
There is a clue in Acts 1 to guess what life Mary lived.
(Acts 1:14) "They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
Mary, the physical mother of Jesus Christ, was a prayer person. She was loved and respected by the early church members. She has become a blessed person.
"From now on all generations will call me blessed”
On Mother 's Day, I hope that all the mothers here can confess this praise.
"From now on all generations will call me blessed”
I want you to be such a mother, like Mary who praised Him in God in any situation.
I hope that you will be such a wonderful mother, like Mary who was happy in the Lord in any circumstance.
Like Mary who always prayed in the Lord, I want you to be such a mother.
So, like Mary's confession, we may also confess like this.
"From now on all generations will call me blessed”
